It was a little hard to set up, but once it was set up, it has been working great and is much better than using the controller as the remote!
 Very Poor Button Layout-PS3 Remote Nov 21, 2009
The button placement on this remote is very poor: Normal remotes place the PLAY button BETWEEN the STOP and PAUSE buttons.
Not Sony.
The PS3 remote stacks all three buttons vertically, with the PLAY at the top, STOP in the middle, and PAUSE at the bottom.
All three buttons are shaped the same, and there is no way to distinguish between them.
The remote is not back-lit.
The lack of back-lighting, tactile feel, and poor button layout means that the STOP button is easily pressed when you really wanted PLAY--so you get to wait another 5 minutes while the movie (re)loads, and watch all the "commercials" AGAIN.
Very, Very, Frustrating.
There is no POWER button. Instead, you must press the Playstation button, then cycle through various PS3 menus and find/select "turn PS3 off".
The PS3 remote epitomizes why Sony continues to lose market share: poorly designed products at elevated prices.

Have a PS3? Watch Movies? Then you need this.
One of my most-used accessories since the PS3 launch has been this remote control. As a big movie watcher, this is an absolute necessity.
The layout is very nice, easy to use and feels very solid. If you've ever used the PS2 remote control, this is a big improvement.
Every button you'd need is available via the remote, and none of them feel awkwardly placed like the previous remote control. In addition to the standard controls you'd expect, the remote includes blu-ray specific buttons (Red/Green/Blue/Yellow), an Eject button and a PS button (which, if held, allows you to turn the PS3 off).
One of the big benefits with this remote is the bluetooth support - unlike other appliances which require a direct line of sight between the remote and the system, this control allows you to be in another room and still have full control over the PS3. Sounds useless, but it actually comes in handy if you have anything blocking your PS3's line of sight (or if you want to turn on/off the PS3 from another room).
The remote control has a very nice feel to it, and makes for a much more enjoyable movie-watching experience.
You'll probably find, like myself, that you use this PS3 remote for general navigation for the PSN Store, XMB and even web-browsing. For such a low-price, you just can't go wrong with it.

This is a great accessory for your ps3. Don't buy the third party remotes...this works great without additional connectors. Just point, program, and enjoy.

I bought the remote for my grandson's playstation 3 so he could watch blu-ray movies with it. It works wonderfully and the shipping
was great. Great product. Should have come with the playstation,
in my opinion.
