best game of its generation... Nov 17, 2009 While playing Dragon Age: Origins today, I was overcome with revulsion as the game's terrible graphics, ghastly art direction, and tedious, clunky gameplay impressed themselves unmercifully upon my fevered brain. Enraged, I ejected the disc and flung it from an open window. So far the holiday 2009 lineup has been extremely underwhelming. It made me realise again just how good the Gears of war franchise is - everything about it - the graphics, the design, and the gameplay are pitch perfect. I spent the rest of the evening replaying the campaigns of both gears one and 2, and found myself completely immersed in its ruined world of shattered pavement and drifting smoke as well as totally engaged by the tactically involved gameplay. Its one of only a handful of games from this generation that I will want to remember.

Awesome game! (But online mode can lag...) Nov 05, 2009 I gave the game five stars for the level of fun, but the overall experience I gave four stars. Everything about the game is amazing, including the campaign (co-op on live or split screen, online play or multiplayer with Bots), but online can be annoying unless you are host because the lag can be extremely frustrating.
I like the game better than part one. The updates and 15 additional maps to download provide almost endless fun. The Horde mode is genius! You take on wave after wave (1-50) of Locus and you can play with 1 to 4 other people online!
I was displeased with the harsh language in this game. Part one had its fair share of language, but this is a warning for parents who intend to buy this game for younger children- there is an option to turn off the foul language- at least the majority of the curse words will be replaced...
Again, the four stars comes with the annoying lag issues that need to be addressed...
A Fantastic Sequel for a Fantastic Game Nov 04, 2009 When the original Gears of War came out, I owned an Xbox 360 and played the game religiously both online and solo. Since Gears of War 2 came out, I've since purchased another Xbox because I missed this game and the online multiplayer experience offered on Xbox 360 as opposed to Playstation 3 (which I currently own). The game does a great job of pulling you into the storylines and despite the lengthy cutscenes, I found myself actually interested in what they were saying whereas most games I fast forward through them. Truly what makes this game fantastic though is the online multiplayer mode where you can compete against an opposing team. If you're looking for an awesome story, fast-paced action, and an incredible online multiplayer experience, Gears of War 2 is perfect for you!
Gears of War 2 Oct 26, 2009 This game was terrific. Being coop my husband and i played together and we loved it. It was hours of fun and competition. It will keep you absorbed from beginning to end. The boss fights are tough but not to touch and you have air battles besides ground battles.
Does a chainsaw equipped machine gun get any better? Oct 24, 2009 This game is one that I am looking forward to playing several times over, even after having beaten the game twice already. Besides having the best graphics of any game in 2008, this game shows it's depth through one of the best scripted stories since Call of Duty 4. Simply worth every dime, and one of the few games I would pay full price for again. The multiplayer also breaks some great ground with the addictive horde mode, and really makes you wonder what is left to do for the third game. Addictve, beautiful and engaging, Gears brings a new level to the third-person shooter genre.
