2Not as good as I thought it would be.  Oct 17, 2009
I would consider myself an intermediate player and have been using a co-worker's Yasaka Mark IV paddle. It was a good racket and wanted to buy something similar with the same speed, spin, and control rating. I thought that it would be close, but it is not. Maybe I'm just not used to it yet, but I played 10 games in one day and still can't get the hang of it. Ball sounds flat coming off the paddle and the speed / spin does not come close to the Yasaka. It's too light and the grip is fits small in your hand. Felt the same as my old $15 butterfly. I allowed some of my friends who are really good and some actually compete and they say that it is not worth $50.

5Amazing tournament paddle  Aug 16, 2009
I, like many others, started out using an Academy sportscraft racket. It was great for a beginner. As I became a better player I looked into some Stiga rackets and realized that they were not for my style of play. They were more for a defensive player with the foam being extra thick as to absorb any offensive hits. Well after a while I looked into getting a more offensive paddle. When I saw the ratings on the Chiu paddle I figured that I would give it a shot. I was no longer playing table tennis at just a recreational level. Tournaments that I was playing in at this time were giving cash prizes of $1500 or more, with also an entry fee of $150. So I figured I needed a paddle to match my style of play. With this paddle being at the top of most tournament style paddles, before you get to the crazy expensive professional paddles, I bought it. I never figured how quickly my playing could increase. This spin is practicly unreal. The speed, because of how much thiner it is than most other tournament style paddles, is amazing. I could place this ball anywere I wanted to. If you have a good knowlege of how the game works with placement, english, control, and speed then it also is very easy to pick up and learn this paddle's strengths and weaknesses. I now have been using this paddle for over 2 years now and could not be happier. I know that this paddle is at first very sticky and will pick up anything around it (meaning like dust), so the first thing I did was buy a case and some cleaner for it. It cost a few extra dollars but it will keep you from having to buy a new one for a long time. Also I do have just a couple of nicks on the edges because of natural game play, but people who buy this paddle are most of the time at a tournament level and know that hitting the table is bad and should really try to stay away from doing that. Obviously it will happen as we all know that these games get really intense.
To some it all up, this has been the best paddle that I have ever used and I don't know how I could use anything else unless i was willing to pay a fortune on a professional paddle.

5Love the Product.. Really good..  Jul 10, 2009
Butterfly Carlos Chiu is an excellent racket. I brought it a year back now and I love it. Its excellent for spining and has lot of control. It however, lacks some power. Good bang for the buck..

5Great paddle...  Jun 01, 2009
Stepped up to this paddle from the higher end Stiga's and couldn't believe the difference. The spin is awesome and after playing with it for a week or so the control was great as well. Don't buy this paddle if you don't have the intention of correcting flaws in your game.

5Great Step Up  Apr 09, 2009
I have been using this bat for a couple of months now and I can tell that my game has improved. I bought this bat for two of my friends as well as myself for Christmas and all three of us are still in awe on how our game has improved. All three of us were using cheap rackets that generated little spin. When we started using this racket, none of us could control the ball because of the spin, but these bats have forced us to learn.
I recommend this bat for anybody looking to improve from the beginner level.
